My cousin's wedding!

** My family with the wedding couple,
Sherwyn & Jane (who are my cousin and cousin-in-law)!

Eh.. Today is a big day for my cousin (of my same age, but 1 mth older than me) and my soon to be cousin-in-law.

The day started me waking up like 0600 hrs (despite me sleeping at 0100 hrs in the morning just yesterday morning, becos just came back from the musical, Dim Sum Dollies mahx..)

Super tired, but becos its my cousin, I have no choice but to attend lah.. Then moreover, my dad is placed second in the family and being his eldest son, I have to go lah.. not nice not to show face rite..

So anyway, it was a fun time mtg up with my aunties, uncles, cousins and of course, the wedding couple!

Then came home to rest and change for a while, before changing my night attire fashion and go for the wedding dinner at Carlton Hotel.

It was tiring though, but fun.. so below are the photos for the day.. Its tiring being my immediate family's camera-man.. hahax.. below are the photos and a video (my parents' tea ceremony experience) lah for you all to enjoy! =)

THE TEA CEREMONY @ THE BRIDEGROOM'S HOUSE

** My parents' FIRST tea ceremony after they are married for about 24 yrs!

** My aunties, mum and cousins all in the traditional Peranakan wear, the sarong kebaya!

** My cousin, Nathaniel, and me! (my aunty say he dress like a Korean boy. Don't you think so?)

** Believe it or not, my mum actually helps to babysit the 3 kids you see in the photo above. They are ALL my cousins and from the SAME immediate family! Is my mum capable or wat! =)

** My mum and dad posing for camera!

** My parents and me posing for the camera!

** More bibiks (Malay term for women who wear sarong kebayas!) in the photos and all are my aunties and cousins as usual. Oh.. my mum is also in the photo! =)

** My aunty posing for the camera!

** My cousin, Sherwyn, posing for the camera! (Sherwyn is my cousin lah!)

** Sherwyn playing with his dog, Chewy!

Cousins: Melodi & Fiona

** The bridegroom, Sherwyn, immediate family photo! Aww....

** The wedding couple, Sherwyn & Jane, posing a funny pose for the camera!

** The wedding couple's entourage!

** One more look at the wedding couple!

** Grandma kissing the bridegroom, Sherwyn, during the tea ceremony!

** Grandma kissing the bride, Jane, during the tea ceremony!

** The wedding car! Cute rite! =)

** The Ghui Cousins posing for the camera!

** The Bibiks posing with the wedding couple!

** Bibiks (with funny pose) posing with the wedding couple!

THE WEDDING DINNER @ THE CARLTON HOTEL

** My family posing for the camera in the couple's hotel room!

** My aunty and Melodi (my cousin) posing for the camera!

** My aunty, Melodi (my cousin), grandma & family all posing for the camera in the couple's hotel room!

** A replicate of the above photo, except that it is a funny version of it!

** Cousins: Fiona & Melodi posing for the camera just outside the ballroom where the dinner is held!

** My GOH (Guard-Of-Honour) friend, George Wu, who was under the invitation of the bride, Jane (who is my cousin-in-law)! How we met in the dinner was purely coincidental! He looked me up! Ha.. and then we chat and chat and chat! Ha..
He looked so different from the GOH photo taken like 2 yrs back! Ha..

** Nathaniel (my cousin) and me again.. This time, with our coats on.. We look good huh! Machiam superstar like tat! =)
*PS: I look very good in my Zara coat huh! =P.. Can go chase girls with this photo liaox! hahax.. just kidding!

** Cousins posing for a camera! Machiam really like some gala dinner or charity appreciation dinner hor! Ha.. we are all dressed up! =)

** Cousins: Fiona & Nat posing for the camera with something stuck up their nose. (By the way, they are siblings actually!)

** Cheers! says Nathaniel (my cousin) and me!

** The wedding couple with my uncle and aunty =)

Well.. here's wishing them all the best to their married life.. so ya.. now I think the stress would be on me.. ppl kept asking me when would be my turn, since the bridegroom, Sherwyn, is of the same age as me (but older than me by only a mth!). But I guess the only thing I can only answer them is that it would take time to find the right one, and just treat their nagging as a form of entertainment.. hahax.. till God help me find the right one lah! Marriage is for life leh.. not play play one ok! =)

Ok lah.. gtg liaox.. Need to work tml..

Weddings are so fun to attend,

The array of the Dim Sum Dollies!

I tell you ah.. This musical which I've caught yesterday, Dim Sum Dollies - History Of Singapore, has got to be the BEST musical I've watched so far! I thought Beauty World was good enough already, but Dim Sum Dollies far surpass Beauty World!

The humour was fun, political and definately can relate to every Singaporean! Its a musical close to every Singaporean's hearts!
There were a few scenes which were very memorable.. a bit lazy to type, but ya.. if you have not caught it, you should catch this musical sometime man! You've don't know what you are missing!

So yupz.. that ends my blogpost for today.. The musical really brightened up my Saturday nite.. =) I'm confirmed NOT going to miss another installment for Dim Sum Dollies! I'll support Dim Sum Dollies all the way lah! =) Dim Sum Dollies ROCKS!!

My weekend!

Well ppl! yesterday (my Sunday) actually was quite fruitful! You know why?

I went shopping again, and spend $102 as a result! But pls. hold back your horses before you start accusing me of being spendthrift again =P..

I was actually buying a long-sleeve shirt from G2000 to match with my Zara blazer.. Its a salmon coloured checked shirt.. Very nice.. I tell you.. once I see it, I fell in love with it! But I'm not going to take a photo of it.. just to give you all an element of surprise!

I actually came home with it and tried with my pants and blazer, and it looked perfect.. Ha.. I can safely say I looked like some Korean star (ok.. I know you all out there felt like puking.. but its the truth!).. but its cool lah! Oh.. btw, that shirt costs me $59! Expensive but worth it!

Then because I didnt have any accompanying belt, I bought a black belt @ $43.. So ya.. I get to choose my kind of buckle as well =)..

So the purchase costs me $102 loh.. its considered cheap liaox.. I went to Zara and saw a blue 100% linen long-sleeve shirt and it costs me $99.90.. but fortunately I didnt like the material (as it gave me that itchy feeling becos its hard linen), and hence I didn't buy any!... so ya..

However, that was NOT the highlight of my Sunday.. the highlight was actually I drove my aunty's car for the FIRST time AFTER I've passed my driving! So ya.. Driving is no problem, but its the parking that kills! I can't park for nuts! No pole and sticker, I can't park.. haix.. but I guess I need more practice.. so my aunty said she is gonna organise one more session for me.. so ya.. so its driving again! =) Yeh!
Thank goodness I still can remember most of my driving stuff =)

Other than that, I can only say I can't wait for my cousin's wedding on 24/02/08.. It is gonna be so fun! =)

Driving is fun but needs more practice,

My 2nd day of CNY!

Well.. wat can I say? My 2nd day of CNY would be the one with the most "umphh" in it, and it will always be!

Its great meeting cousins (both distant and near) and for some, I have not seen for a long time.. Of course with such unfamilarity, I would still like smile but didnt really talk lah..

And its house after house, so naturally my angpao collection became bigger.. ha.. but then again, its not about angpaos but its more of the fun of CNY visiting houses and all..

Of course, for the first time in many years, my extended family has not come to my house for some CNY visiting.. and they came this year.. Fortunately, I was more than prepared to do so.. =).. And I'm glad that they like the BBQ pork which I've bought from Kim Hock Guan (the chilli version to be precise!).. so ya.. My Marigold jellies were also quite "sellable" =).. hahax.. it was so much fun!

After which, we all proceed to my aunty's house for the annual Peranakan dinner.. I tell you.. it was PEERRRFFEECCTT!! I've been craving for Ayam Buak Keluak (a dish only exclusive to the Peranakans!) for the longest time already, and I did satisfy that craving that nite! So ya.. It was so so yummy lah! =)

Ok then.. before I go, I've gonna leave you all some pics which I've taken.. Of course, there were others but in my uncle's XLR camera.. he said he is gonna burn for me the photos but wonder when.. hmmm..

But anyway, enjoy the pics lah.. not so many though.. =).. Not really into camwhoring already, becos very paiseh lah! =)

** Me with Choco (my aunty's toy puddle) and Precious (my family's dog!)

** From back to front: Natalie (my cousin - but she is an extra in this photo =P), Vanessa (my youngest cousin) and me!

** From left to right: Fiona, Natalie and me! (all 3 of us are cousins lah!)

** Nathaniel and me! (one of the few male cousins in my extended family!)

Well.. hope you have enjoyed the pics =).. When I get the other photos, I would then upload ok =)

Happy, happy, happy,

My CNY Reunion Dinner!

Hey ppl!

Its Day 1 of the Lunar New Year.. and ya.. here's me wishing you all, Happy Lunar New Year 2008! =)

** My family, my aunty & my uncle @ Pearl River Palace Restaurant, Suntec City for Reunion Dinner 2008!

Well.. yesterday was a day of fun! My aunty and uncle came along with my family to Pearl River Palace Restaurant for reunion.. All I can say is that the food was really fantastic! Judging by the total amt I paid all in all for the dinner (after all the taxes) is actually $472.20! So with such a price, you say leh.. Good or not? =)

Anyway, below are the food photos that we have eaten yesterday.. so ya.. hope you salivate ah! =P

** Roasted Suckling Pig Combination
This dish not only have suckling pig slices, but it also has roasted duck and jellyfish! The perfect combination!

** Sharks' Fin Soup with Crabmeat and Roe
This bowl in the above photo looks small rite? But actually, its a very BIG bowl.. and wats best is that it is 1 bowl PER person.. the shark's fin were plentiful and you can really eat the shark's fin! This is awesome! =)

** Baked Cod Fish with Wasabi-Mayo Sauce
This dish is very special.. in a sense that they actually baked the cod fish and just before serving, they add in teriyaki sauce on the baked cod fish, and add the same time, add wasabi and mayo to mix with the teriyaki sauce..
The combination is PERFECT! But I would prefer the wasabi to be a bit more ummphh! But wat more can I ask? ha..

** Sauteed Prawns with Walnut in Golden Nest
The prawns were BIG, yummy, juicy and crunchy! Yummy! I can eat all these prawns myself man if got the choice! =)

** Glutinous Rice Ball with Red Bean Paste
This looks ordinary rite? But this dessert is one of my fave desserts already.. It looks simple enough, but I tell you the taste is really AWESOME! The preparation for this is quite simple.. Its actually you actually boil the red bean, and then you go blend.. then the red bean soup whilst cooking, you add in rock sugar.. then the blended bean throw it in and cook.. add corn starch to thicken the mixture.. At the same time, add some mandarin orange zest/peel to give that extra kick! And viola! Your dessert is ready and oh so yummy! =)

There is actually 2 more dishes that we have eaten.. Its E-fu noodles and the normal yu-sheng! These 2 are quite normal, so I didnt take any photo loh! =) Its a 7 course dinner lah.. =)

Ok then.. I got to go and do other stuff liaox..

This morning's visitation is at my mum's side.. so ya.. just visited one house, had lunch there and then came home to rest becos tml is gonna be another long day! Real long! so ya.. Tonite's dinner is steamboat.. my mum's idea lah.. so ya.. its been a long time since we had steamboat.. And I also contirbuted some money into this steamboat too.. so ya..

My CNY is very expensive.. too much money spent liaox.. but then again, its always a blessing to bless others as well as also this is only a yearly affair, so why be stingy rite =)

Ok lah.. gtg and help my mum prepare tonite's steamboat liaox! Yummy! Oh.. tonite got yu-sheng again! Man.. I just love yu-shengs!

Oh.. tml at my aunty's place also got yu-sheng.. courtesy of my mum again! ha.. so its a really eat yu-sheng consecutive for 3 days (Reunion dinner @ Pearl River Palace Restaurant, 1st day @ home, 2nd day @ my aunty's place).. but oh well.. Guess yu-sheng is healthy! =)

Ok.. really got to go liaox..

The CNY season is here! Lalala! Gong Xi Gong Xi!,

CNY 2008 in approx 6 hrs!

Yes ppl.. its approx 6 hrs to the new lunar new year..

And yes.. I have been waiting for this day for very long liaox.. CNY has always a special place in my heart.. for family, food, etc..

I'm closer to my family at my dad's side, rather than my mum's side.. so ya.. So my dad's side is always more fun! =)

New clothes.. meet and talk with family members.. good food..

Oh man! I just love CNYs!! *grinz*

Its like I see most of them abt 4-5 times a year, but it is somehow different when I meet them for CNY.. I don't know why.. Just don't know how to express it in words..

So the next few days, I would just eat non-stop and of course, calories intake would be super high.. so ya.. but who cares? This only comes once a year.. so I'm gonna enjoy myself..

Starting tonite, I would be at Pearl River Palace Restaurant for my reunion dinner with my aunty and uncle.. and then its adjourning to my uncle's mother-in-law hse for a small gathering..

Tml is gonna be visiting just my mum's side (my aunty' hse) and then come home for steamboat dinner.

The next day (which is the 2nd day of CNY) has always been the most busiest day for me! Its my dad's side lah.. so what you expect?

Ok.. enuf of talking.. and I'm gonna go and bathe and get ready for my CNY reunion dinner later! yeh! =)

Cya ppl and Happy CNY 2008 again!,

The last weekend before CNY!

Hey ppl.. I have been blogging weekly, and I'm quite sure that you all are looking forward for my blogpost rite.. haha.. ok.. I koe I bhb, but wat to do? This is NOT the first time you've have known me rite.. =)

Anyway, work was all rite the past week.. Tiring as usual, but I'm so glad that I managed to go cell group again without much distractions... =).. I could only thank God for it =)

Well.. my weekends were exciting.. It was eating and shopping.. How I wish this could happen every week.. So anyway, this post would be one that should have more pictures than words huh.. so I shall let the photos do the talking instead..

On Saturday, our dear Christina has organised an Japanese Ala-Carte buffet at Miramar Hotel (the ppl who went were Ryan, Cat, Carlise, Christina and myself).. It was really the FIRST time in my life eating so MUCH sashimi in my life.. So if you really like sashimi, then you should not give this place a miss! Its Ikio Japanese Restaurant in Miramar Hotel.. but don't expect the place to be much of a fanfare kind of thing, becos the place its really quite small and old.. so ya.. But if you were to ask me to choose between Kuishinbo and this Ikio Japanese Restaurant, I would still go for Kuishinbo, becos its slightly more value for money.. the range is more and there's dessert.. so ya.. after the taxes at Kuishinbo, you pay about $50 per pax, whereas for this Ikio Japanese Restaurant @ Miramar Hotel, you pay about $39 after the taxes.. so ya..
After which, Christina, Carlise & I went under my recommendation for Rochor Beancurd at Selegie.. it was good.. =).. becos we all had a craving for dessert! =)
Anyway, the following are the photos of the food.. I shall let them do the talking! =)

The Japanese Porridge! Not kidding.. that's what they call it!

The grilled cocktail with bacon roll!

The Sashimis: Salmon, Swordfish, Cuttlefish & Octopus!

The deep-fried tofu! (Forgot the Jap name liaox)

Christina & her Mekajiki sashimi! This is the smile that she has shown for being overjoyed becos she has been craving for mekajiki sashimi (swordfish) for the longest time!

Another look at the Salmon & Swordfish sashimi!

Our appetizer: Salmon sashimi with teriyaki sauce!

Then after which came home, and slept for the nite.. satisfied... becos we like had a great meal complete with dessert! =).. Its simple pleasures like these which make me happy! =)

Then it was Sunday.. and I woke up bright and early to follow my family to Vivocity to let our family's dog hair be groomed.. Apparently, we were hoping that the award-winning groomer was going to cut her hair, and thank God, it did! And she looked so good, but she looked like a male dog.. but oh well.. she looked cute! =)

Of course, the grooming process took 2 hours, and we of course did not wait for 2 hrs.. so instead, we went to shop first.. and me being having a shopping agenda in mind (ie, to buy a blazer coat for myself for my cousin's wedding dinner on 24 Feb 08), I went to search for one.. and man.. the choices are many too few! I was spoiled for choice, but of course, the first one which I saw (btw, its in Zara) and I fell in love with it, but its quite pricey.. $189 to be exact (what do you expect from Zara rite)!

Then thinking its a bit expensive, I went to Espirit to see.. but guess what! Nothing compared to the one I saw at Zara.. so there I went back and with a heavy but yet happy heart, I whipped out my Citibank credit card and paid for it.. I wonder how much OT I must do to get back the amount.. haix.. But I should be happy lah, becos I've bought what I wanted! =)

The $189 blazer coat from Zara!

Of course, I didnt only buy the coat (as above!).. I bought 2 CDs as well.. One is the Mediacorp CNY 2008 CD Compilation, and the other is an oldies jazz CD bought from That CD Shop (its their in-house collection, and it costs me $29.90 just for that disc, but the packaging is real nice lahx!.. and the songs are really nice.. if you like Chinese oldies, you should get it!)

The CDs.. Mediacorp CNY 2008 Compilation, and The Night Queen, Shang Kuan Ping "High Society" CD.

Well ya.. Now I can't wait for CNY to come.. apparently, I have no mood to go to work liaox.. even when I'm at work, I just wish it could come earlier.. so ya..

But first things first, I need to revise/study some of my poly stuff becos of some reason which I cannot say.. Once its over and if its successful, I would then blog and tell you all ya..
Of course, my close friends around me sure know what I'm talking abt! So ya.. becos I told them liaox.. but you must koe.. its ONLY selected! So if I told you, then you should be privileged becos you are considered my close friend mah =)

Ok lah.. Other than that, I don't think I have the strength to blog further.. becos was drained quite physically at work today, becos its like I got up at 0530 hrs to go to work, so that I would be able to reach office at 0700 hrs and leave office.. so ya..

Ok lah.. I gtg and stufy liaox! =).. Thanks for reading my blog ya.. I think the next blogpost would be the CNY season loh! =)

Happy CNY 2008!,
