The western food stall in the heartlands..

Well peepz.. didnt sleep so well yesterday nite.. Slept at 0300 hrs this morning and wake up on the same day, but at 0920 hrs.. felt so unsatisfied lah.. haix..

Moreover, I actually had abt 6 hrs sleep and wondered why I feel so tired.. I've asked Alvin (who by the way is one of the genius guys in church), and he said it could probably be due to the sudden change in my biological clock which cause this extreme tiredness.. which come to think of it, its true lah!
(See.. told you Alvin is a genius!..)

After service today, supposed to go to KTV, but I think Tjow is tired and also not many ppl going, so we cancelled the event and decide to go for dinner instead.. so in the end, we went to this place which Jaslyn (another church mate of mine) recommended.. and I tell you.. it was good lah! It is restaurant food (in fact, better than restaurants!) but at coffeeshop/heartland prices!

Take a look at the food that we've had and its prices and you wld koe the prices.. Its cheap and good! All of us who went today (Tjow, Claudia, Jaslyn, Greg, Me, Alvin, Carlise & Christina) were quite particular about food and we critic food like nobody's business.. and today, all comments that came out were good (EXCEPT the desserts! It could have been better..)..

According to what Jaslyn has told us, the owners of this western food stall is owned by 4 chefs who have quit from their previous jobs and decided to set up a stall of their own! And one of the owner happens to be Jaslyn's friend who has studied in the same bible school as her, when she went in for pastoral studies.. So ya..

Anyway, the food is good.. so drool at what you see below ya..
But before doing so, here is the address of the place:

Delight & Delicious
Block 26 Jalan Membina
#01-10
29 Food Centre
Singapore 161026
Tel/Fax: 6238 0382

** If you are wondering where is Jalan Membina, its actually somewhere in the Tiong Bahru area.. so ya.. =)

Okay.. now for the food photos and its prices [ NO service charge and GST!! What you see is what you pay! In other words, its a nett amount!! =) ]
Be hungry.. very hungry.. haha.. =P
(All photos were taken by my Sony Ericcson W890i phone!) =)

Soup Of The Day: Cream of Chicken ($2.80)
This is definately NOT Campbell Soup! It is much better, but I feel that chicken taste could be better (but Tjow said becos' I had the chicken wings first, so tats why!). But nevertheless it is good lah! =) The Shitake mushrooms in the soup were fresh, nice and crunchy too!!
According to Jaslyn, she said the dish has NO MSG! So that makes it a plus point to drink it too! =)
Overall, I rate it 3.5 out of 5 stars! Well.. despite what Tjow said is becos of the chicken I've ate earlier and thus no taste, I don't really believe it, as I would think even if I eat the chicken wings and drink the soup, it should taste as good.. but this soup doesn't really have a strong chicken taste.. so that explains a slightly lower rating from me.. But nevertheless, its still good =)

Hot Wings (10 pcs) ($4.80)
The picture above doesn't show a full 10 pc picture, becos by the time I've remembered to take the photos, ppl were already starting to eat it.. hahax..
The marinate for the chicken wings is puuurrrffeeccttt, but the coleslaw was even better =P..
The actual serving size is only 7 pcs per plate, but becos Jaslyn koes the boss there, I think he "jia liao".. hahax.. to make it 10 pcs, so each one 1 pc =)
Overall, I rate it 4.5 out of 5 stars! This is verrryyy good! The chicken is well-marinated with its spices and all.. One pc per person is definately NOT enough!

Caesar Salad ($4.80)
This dish is again complimentary! =).. Not becos' we order a lot, but we are Jaslyn's friends, so we get to eat free stuff =)
Overall, I rate it 3 out of 5 stars! Its restaurant-style Caesar salad. Taste like a restaurant's too! My only complain is that if the dish is slightly colder, it would have taste better! =)

Paprika Chicken($6.50)
This is my main course for the dinner.. It is actually char-grilled skinless chicken thighs. The chicken thighs were surprisingly tender (becos' usually unskilled people who do grilling, would actually make the meat too dry as well as also tough) and succulent! Its juices were all locked in the meat, so when you chew it, it immediately "burst" into your mouth! =).. It comes with fries and coleslaw.. If you notice carefully, some cheese has been melted on the chicken before serving, so that it gives an extra uummph to the chicken!
You don't see the serving like that so small! Its actually quite big/filling.. I almost cldn't finish up everything!
Overall, I rate it 4 out of 5 stars! =).. a must-try! But a suggestion.. maybe you can ask for a replacement of instead the fries, go for the mashed potatoes.. they are much better and less "filling" on the stomach! =)

Full-Moon Beef Cheese Burger Set Meal ($9.40)
If you are a beef lover, then you should try this burger! According to Tjow (who has this for his main course), it is very juicy and 1 beef patty for him is not enuf.. he needs two!.. so viola!..
For a set meal, you just have to add an additional $1.50, which actually consists of any 2 of the 3 sides which they offer (fries, coleslaw, mashed potatoes). If you are not game to make it a set meal (becos you are a small eater, then the burger (WITHOUT any sides) would just cost you a mere $7.90). =)
As mentioned above, the mashed potatoes were good.. its not exactly what you have at KFC, where you can taste and confirm that they use some premix powder to do up their mashed potatoes.. However, in the mashed potatoes that this stall offers, you can seriously taste the buttery taste, and still eat some small chunks of potatoes in it.. Add a little more black pepper to taste on the mashed potatoes, and it would be perfect! =)
Overall, I rate this full-moon burger 3.5 out of 5 stars (I only had 1 small portion and felt that it was quite dry.. but didnt eat everything, so I don't know how is it like to eat the whole thing!! So can't really give my take on this!)

Seafood Blanco Pasta ($8.90)
Jaslyn had this for her main course, and of course, I did try it.. It was very good.. not only in terms of the ingredients which was surprisingly generous (for such a low price), but more of its "essence" of the dish or commonly known as gravy.. You can really taste the sweetness of the seafood, all "locked" up in the gravy! If my tongue didn't fail me, I think they've added some white wine inside as well, which gives it the extra kick! =) The flavour is indescribable! You have to taste it to know it! =)
Overall, I rate this pasta 4.5 out of 5 stars! If you like pasta, this is the one you should eat! =)

Half-Moon Beef Cheese Burger Set Meal ($7.00)
If you are not game for the full-moon beef cheese burger set, you can go for the half-moon (everything is the same, except that it is only 1 beef patty instead of 2 pcs!).. For a set meal, you just have to add an additional $1.50, which actually consists of any 2 of the 3 sides which they offer (fries, coleslaw, mashed potatoes). If you are not game to make it a set meal (becos you are a small eater, then the burger (WITHOUT any sides) would just cost you a mere $5.50). =)

English Ol' Style Fish & Chips ($6.50)
The tartar sauce is self-made, and its very good I must say! Some lemon juice on the tartar sauce would then make it even better! The fish is thinly breaded and the fish is very succulent as well.. Its soft and has no fishy taste! Serving is also generous. =)
Overall, I rate it 4 out of 5 stars!

Tiramisu ($5.20)
Ah.. shall not comment more about this.. Just have to say that this didnt reach my standard! The sponge fingers and mascaporne cheese just didnt taste right and raw cocoa powder is supposed to be used, but they have used something like chocolate shavings.. But a commendable thing about this is that the coffee liquor used here is of the right amount and right one.. Other than that, can't commend much.
Overall, I rate this tiramisu 3 out of 5 stars!

Brownie with ice-cream ($4.50)
This brownie taste slightly salty.. don't really have a full-chocolate flavour.. The ice-cream taste weird.. Not too sure whether this brownie is the one that they make themselves or some premix.. But it sure doesn't really live up to my expectation.. Let's just say that there are better ones (eg: My Secret Garden & TCC).. My taste very atas one! =P
Overall, I rate it 2 out of 5 stars! The only plus point about this is that its not so sweet.. that's all I can say about this dessert!

** Picture on left: Alvin with his plate really EMPTY! He had the half-moon cheese burger set meal! It was sooo good that he had finished EVERYTHING on his plate! Now you judge it whether good or not loh! =)

Well.. I've gave my take on the must-try dishes from the above-mentioned stall.. hope you can try it out sometime, and see whether you agree on my commentary of the food mentioned above! =)..

But overall I can say, this is restaurant-standard food at affordable prices.. This is what I call a good western food stall in the heartlands.. Don't you agree? =)
